Kākā feather Rimu earrings

$38.00

Kākā feather earrings in Rimu wood. The earrings are laser cut in our own stylised feather design and are hand painted in red and orange. The hooks are stainless steel and the feathers are approx. 45mm long.

The Kākā is a New Zealand forest parrot with the bright red-orange feathers especially visable on their belly and under their wings when flying. After disappearing locally in the early 1900’S, they  have had a great resurgence here in Wellington where I live through the great work at the Zealandia Sanctuary. It’s wonderful to  hear them screeching and see them soaring over head in my backyard.

While the earrings are finished with beeswax they are not designed to be worn swimming or in the shower.
