Bar-tailed Godwits Kuaka Enamel Pin

Lovely Bar-tailed Godwit / Kuaka pin in Hard Enamel designed by me.

These amazing Godwits migrate between Alaska and Aotearoa New Zealand twice a year. From Alaska to NZ it’s an 11,000 kilometre journey across the Pacific Ocean - the longest non-stop flight of any bird (as they are not sea birds they do not rest or feed on the sea on route), it generally takes 8 to 9 days.

They spend the Spring/Summer here around harbours and in estuaries before heading back for summer in the Northern Hemisphere (although some Kuaka have been seen hanging around  NZ over Winter).

The pin is approximately 4.5cm wide and 3cm high and packaged on an illustrated backing card with two rubber back fixing.
